What the role will involve

We’re looking for attentive and reliable volunteers to support the Joan Eardley exhibition at the Granary Gallery. As a Volunteer Invigilator with a focus on artwork security, you’ll play an important role in safeguarding the artworks while helping to create a calm and welcoming environment for visitors.

This role is about being present in the space, observing visitor behaviour, and ensuring the exhibition is enjoyed respectfully and safely.

No previous experience is required, but an interest in galleries and a strong sense of responsibility are important.

We aim to keep volunteering flexible. You can sign up for one or more sessions per week depending on your availability.

Location: Granary Gallery

Dates: 4 June - 11 October 2026

Days: Exhibition opening hours are Wednesday - Sunday 11am – 4pm

Times: Volunteer sessions are Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 11am – 1.30pm and 1.30pm – 4pm

All volunteers must be able to attend two training sessions on Thursday 28 May and Friday 5 June 2026.

In addition, all volunteers will receive an exhibition catalogue, invitations to the exhibition opening, gallery talks and special events and friends and family exhibition tickets as well as cinema ticket offers at The Maltings.

Support and Training

You’ll receive full training covering security procedures, gallery guidelines, and key information about the exhibition. Clear points of contact will be available at all times, and staff will be on hand to support you throughout your volunteering.
