There’s so much for you to get stuck in to when you’re volunteering with us. If you’re interested in helping your community flourish, Northern Learning Trust can provide an opportunity to get involved, and make a positive impact in a variety of ways.

Your responsibilities;

  • To help mentees understand the additional support services available to them and how best to utilise them
  • To attend and participate fully in volunteering support and training sessions
  • To be flexible, within reason, in terms of the time commitment necessary to effectively support mentees
  • If requested by mentees, and within reason, to attend relevant meetings with them in a support and/or advocacy role
  • To complete any paperwork relevant to the project and make it available as required
  • Whenever appropriate and convenient to negotiate with the Project
  • Co-ordinator visiting the mentee in prison prior to their release
  • To understand and follow the volunteer policies and procedures
  • To identify and communicate your support needs and make effective use of support mechanisms provided
  • To understand and observe the need to maintain confidentiality
  • To treat all people with equal respect
  • To strive to be as non-judgmental and objective as possible.
